Road Manners for Idiots

Last Saturday whilst on Galle road somewhere around Rathmalana, an idiot was honking behind me like mad. I was about to make a right, and was on the correct lane. Completely pissed off, I slowed down to see who this was. Two people completely covered with coats on a motorcycle, their gloves were the only indicator that they were traffic police. I ddint say word after seeing the gloves, and the bugger started blagarding me saying "you should move your car when WE tell you to do so... I said I was about to make a right turn. Taking no notice they continued with their verbal thrashing.
My wife was like, what the hell was all that about?...she didnt even know that they were coppers.
I still dont know what I did to make those guys so aggressive. It wasnt like I did anything wrong. I guess its just the way of the police.
Anyway, This web site was forwarded to me by a friend of mine. A new concept for driving in Sri Lanka. Check Mahamagatapancil.com.

seriously man.. some guys just only know to honk the horn. You get into traffic and even a breeze blows they'll honk the horn for no reason. I sometimes get so mad I just stop in the middle of the road and stay for a few seconds to let them honk away and then drive off..

Worst of all once you let them overtake they just clog the road cuz they r going slower than all of us..

Man, makes my blood boil!!!!

I would have expected this from a civilian but this was a copper!...and he acted as if I had done something wrong...good thing that i had to turn at the junc. I have this suspicion that he called the traffic coppers along galle road and notified to stop me at all the check points..just to get me into trouble...

Those idiots who honk their way to and forth in the traffic doesn't even seemed to know that they are wrong. And they have such an attitude as if we have done the wrong thing, and give us the "stare" when passing us over. Forget about the stare, how about the endless filth that they dispose to the public?

What are we to do in such a situation?

We're helpless.. And standing up for justice is like asking for more trouble...

As a regular visitor to Sri Lanka I have been demanded money from traffic police so many times with claims that I've brokedn the law. Last August I was stopped for overtaking a car and broke the law (supposedly) by "crossing over the broken white line". I always refuse to pay and the Police always become agressive.
